Road Trip to Eugene on Friday, May 11th?

Softball Families,
I thought I would share that the UofO Softball Team is coming up on their last home games of the year.
 
Would you all be interested in heading up as a team to the Friday, May 11th game in Eugene?  We would need to leave around 4pm if the game stays scheduled at 6pm.
Please let me know your thoughts....

Saturday Follow up

Softball Families!

Just a follow up.... In addition to our pictures at 7:30am and our Game at 9:00am, this coming Saturday is Opening Ceremonies at 1pm on field one.

All team members are encouraged to attend the ceremony.  I will be there with my boy as he has a game at noon.  I would really like the team to join me on the field.

New Season!

We are of to a fast start! One practice down, many to go. This girls are already working hard and shaking out the cob webs. Keep up the good work.

We do say good bye to one of our team today, Peyton Price had to resign do to another conflict. We will miss her.

Be sure to work with your players in between practices on what I let them know to work on. Each of them have their own particular needs. You will be the difference in whether they grow as a player. Your time playing catch, throwing grounders, coaching them through what I have taught.

update

Thank you so much for your patience these past weeks as we have had to be subject to weather conditions. I also got word that some parents were upset at the amount of notice given. Please understand that games will not be called most times until the time the game is scheduled to start. I know it is an inconvenience, but imagine begin from Yoncalla and pulling into the parking lot at 8:30 just to turn around. We have it pretty good. Carly, Howard and I put in over 3 hours on the field this weekend trying to get them playable and still couldn't play. Imagine my disappointment.

That being said, our hard work paid off and we got to play a tremendous double header against our friends from Yoncalla thanks to the weather gods and a friendly umpire named Jason.

I am proud of all our girls. They are all learning from their mistakes and growing.

Please note the following for the coming week:

· Practice Monday and Wednesday at Eastwood (no more sunshine park as it is now may)

· Even though start times can be delayed, please arrive at prescribed arrival times to warm up and prep fields.

· Game Friday Arrive 4:45pm

· Game Sat Arrive 8:30am

· Game Sat Arrive 2:45pm (Rain make up)

· Please let me know the day before a game if your player cannot make it.

· Meat stick money due this week. $48 check made payable to Roseburg Cal Ripken

· We need to man the concession stand before our game on May 16th from 4:45 to 7:15. I need 4 adult volunteers.

· Please make sure players arrive with ZERO jewelry. (necklaces, earrings, bracelets, facial jewelry) This is safety....not fashion.

· Anyone interested in a Team sweatshirt, t-shirt, or long sleeve jersey for supporters? Let me know size and type and I will price the items.

· Play catch with your daughter in between practices and games! You won't regret it.

Bummer

Well....two days in a row rained out! :(

Well, that's softball. Carly and I worked on the fields with another team even after the game was cancelled today the first time, but could not get it up to a playable level.

We still have practice monday and a scrimmage against Winston ASA Wednesday at 5pm at the VFW fields in Winston. Please bring $2 to help pay for the umpire.

First Game...First Win!

Good Job Girls! What a great game...hits...runs...fielding...pitching...it was all there. We won 16-2 against the Home team from Yoncalla.

We drove hard and I am proud of the girls. When we needed to, we slowed down the pace and am even prouder of the girls' restraint.

Ashley got us going with a monster blast to the fence in the first inning and earned the first Game Ball of the year!

We definitely learned of a few things to work on!

See you all at wed practice and 2 games this weekend. Please keep the calendar handy and don't miss any games!

Fundraiser

Fundraiser items will be handed out at practice Monday. Please come prepared to take two bags of meat stix or leave a check to the league for $25 as a "buy out" option to the fundraiser.
